A community Fight Against Cancer In NC

A community non profit organisation Live Bigg has an inspirational mission to help out with whatever they can in helping people with cancer..Inspired by its founder Joshua Ragan, cancer free after being diagnosed with it at the age of Rhabdomyosarcoma, which is a cancer of the soft musle tissue, which he had until he was 7 years old, it re-occured shortly after but then cured. 
Joshua is trying to  give back to people he owes his life to, to the organisations and hospitals that made who he is now...

DEYOS-Zambia, we where inspired by this story of courage and determination and we wish to share it with it and pass on the word...

Working meeting on Civic Matters in Livingstone

DEYOS-Zambia working meeting on the human rights violations during the protests that took place in Livingstone in March 2011. Zambia Police fired tear gas canisters in a market and school, one child fainted as a result... The Livingstone Civil Society Organizations Forum requested DEYOS-Zambia to organize an action meeting to consider possible response to the unprofessional conduct by the Police. 

DEYOS-Zambia will continue to speak out on issues of human rights as a number one human rights defender in Livingstone.    

Raising Sounds expose' young Artists

A local musical studio in Livingstone called Raising Sounds Studios has continued to produce young artists in Livingstone and exposing them to the rest of the nation. The Producer nicknamed "soft touch Ron Easy" has made a name by producing local Livingstone artists who have proved for now that they are equal to the task in throwing quality musical products on the music industry in Zambia..DEYOS-Zambia supports youth initiatives and as such it will work to expose such efforts to the nation...

Hon. Elijah Muchima refutes hand in Mayoral Elections

Southern Province Minister Elijah J. Muchima has refuted media reports that he had a hand in the mayoral elections for Livingstone City. He said he did not want to be dragged in to the Livingstone councilors politics as his Office was just an advisory when it comes to MMD party issues at local level.

He said he merely facilitated a caucus meeting where strategic resolution resolutions was reached to float one candidate for Mayor and another for deputy, the councilors themselves decided on Mr. Musesa and councilor Jere respectively. Councilor Musonda was bitter because he wanted to floated as the candidate but then the primary elections conducted amongst MMD councilors reviewed that the preferred candidate was Mr. Musesa.

He said for Mr. Musonda to have gone ahead and filed in the nominations as Mayoral was a betrayal of the party because he necessitated the split of vote within MMD and subsequent loss of elections to the opposition UPND a council that MMD controls in terms of numbers.

CALL FOR DIALOGUE

DEYOS-ZAMBIA a Youth organisation in Livingstone do hereby comdem the violence in western province and earnestly urge the government of the Republic of Zambia headed by Mr Rupiah Banda to immediately bring all stakeholders to the Barotse issue to the table for disscussion. We wish to regret the death of young people during the protests in mongu and Limulunga, we urge the Home Minister to immediately investigate the circumstances leading to the usage of excessive force on an unarmed civilian. We contend that rules of engagement must be put to review in this country because we cannot have a situation where trigger excited cops will continue shooting people at every civil protests, it happened at the Copperbelt University and during the protests by Students in Lusaka and everytime the Police and Home Affairs have an excuse...We also call upon young people in western province to restrain themselves and lobby on this issue using legal frameworks.
